Self-Sufficiency Coordination

The Self-Sufficiency Coordination program's goal is to provide the necessary classes for Burmese residents to increase their ability to attain self-sufficiency. The program promote this end by organizing and holding classes that focus on ELL, public transportation, American culture, parenting, laws and legal penalties etc. Through this program, the BAC hopes to facilitate the Burmese community's successful transition to Fort Wayne and empower each individual with self-independence.

Objectives

- To provide self-sufficiency training programs
- To improve life skills and successful acclimation in the community
- To decrease the dependence on governmental assistance.

- English Language Learner (ELL) classes
- Completing application for assistance
- Financial Management advising
- Personal and health safety
- Culture awareness
- Information and referral to local resources
